Would be interesting if Toronto wins Matthews and Arizona wanted to pay up to get him. I have to think this is all fantasy talk but there are good pieces that Arizona would have to give. Strome (marner's teammate and good piece to have); Domi (imagine another domi in the leafs jersey); 7th overall pick (Alex Nylander? could play LW with brother).

Imagine this deal right before 1st overall pick: JVR, Matthews [+?] for Strome, Domi, 7th (Nylander).

Strome was Marners teammate on team Canada, but he played with Domi (and Dvorak) in London.

Idgaf and i doubt leafs management does either..

They would be stupid to give up the first for anything less.. why would they accept a lateral move when they have all the leverage?

Babcock worries me, I understand his desire to make the playoffs, but he has the least amount of patience compared to Shanny & Lou.
I would like see them 'start' to put the long term pieces together this summer, focusing on the teams that stand to lose from the expansion draft.
I could see them packaging PIT 1st round pick in a package, either to move up in the draft, or trade for a long term piece.

I thought the post was about If the Yotes end up 2nd behind the Leafs not still in the 7th spot. It would be Laine instead of Nylander in there.
